Chiefs Kick Their Way To Victory Over Eagles in Super Bowl LVII

GLENDALE, Az (Florida National News) – The Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 in Super Bowl LVII in an exciting game that kept fans tuned in until the end.

The Philadelphia Eagles scored on their first drive of the game as QB Jalen Hurts ran for a touchdown, followed by K Jake Elliott’s extra point. The Chiefs responded on their next drive with an 18 yard touchdown pass to TE Travis Kelce from QB Patrick Mahomes, followed by K Harrison Butker’s extra point. The score remained 7-7 at the end of the first quarter.

Jalen Hurts’ 45 yard touchdown pass to WR A.J. Brown started off the second quarter, followed by Jake Elliott’s extra point putting the Eagles ahead 14-7. The Kansas City Chiefs capitalized on a Jalen Hurts fumble, as LB Nick Bolton recovered it and returned it for a 36 yard touchdown. Harrison Butker added the extra point to tie the game. Jalen Hurts ran for a four yard touchdown, followed by Elliott’s extra point, to put the Eagles up 21-14. Shortly before the half, Patrick Mahomes suffered what appeared to be a painful reinjury of his ankle. Jake Elliott kicked a 35 yard field goal heading into the half to put the Eagles up 24-14.

Rihanna, backed by an entourage of dancers, performed the Apple Music halftime show, featuring many of her greatest hits, capped off by Umbrella and Diamonds in the Sky.

The Chiefs scored the first points of the second half as RB Isiah Pacheco ran for a one yard touchdown, followed by Harrison Butker’s extra point. Jake Elliott kicked a 33 yard field goal for the Eagles to extend their lead 27-21 at the end of the third quarter.

Patrick Mahomes completed a five yard pass to WR Kadarius Toney for the first touchdown of the fourth quarter. After Harrison Butker’s extra point, the Chiefs pulled ahead 28-27. Toney followed up by setting a Super Bowl record 65 yard punt return after the end of the Eagles next scoring drive, which set up another touchdown for Patrick Mahomes who found WR Skyy Moore in the end zone. After Butker’s extra point, the Chiefs were up 35-27. But Jalen Hurts ran two yards for a touchdown, and then ran for a two-point conversion, to tie the game up at 35-35. Harrison Butker’s 27 yard field goal put the Chiefs ahead 38-35, leaving just five seconds on the clock. That sealed the victory for the Chiefs.

With three rushing touchdowns, Jalen Hurts broke the record for quarterbacks, and tied Terrell Davis’ record for all rushers. He also finished with 70 yards rushing, breaking Steve McNair’s record for most rushing yards by a quarterback.
